School Rules and Policies

1. Fees – All fees are paid on the first term/half term class.

·   Fees can be paid either termly or half termly. Fees are non refundable, no reimbursements or reductions for absence from classes are offered in any circumstances.

·   Please place fees in an envelope with the students name clearly written on the front.

·   Fees must be paid in full and must not be deducted for any reason. Fees that are not paid in full will be jeopardising the student's place in the school. A £10 administration fees will be added to all accounts when it is necessary for the school to send a reminder regarding the payment of fees. If fees are received late the student maybe refused entry until fees are paid in full.

·   We offer a 2 week trial period whereby students can pay weekly, after this trial period students will have to pay a registration fee of £5.00 and the rest of the terms fees.

2. Dressing Room Code of Conduct

regretfully, no members of the opposite sex will be allowed in the changing rooms e.g. any gentlemen (Dads, Granddads or brothers) to go into the female dressing room and vice versa. The shower room opposite dressing room 16 can be used as a 'Dads and Daughters' changing area. Boys must not enter the girl's dressing room and likewise girls must not enter the boys changing area. Please keep the dressing rooms neat and tidy and make sure it is clean at the end of the each lesson, and keep noise to a minimum. No running, messing around or swinging on the bars is acceptable. Any food that is eaten in the dressing room must be disposed of

properly.

3. Class Uniforms

Uniform must be worn to each class. Hair must be back off the face for all classes - if a student is not correctly turned out for class, the teacher reserves the right to refuse entry, without the possibility of refund. There will be an individual list of uniforms attached for each lesson. School hoodies are available to purchase as an extra for all pupils of the Louise Edwards School of Dance.

4. Etiquette

It is not appropriate to attend two schools to do the same discipline. As levels of advancement and approaches to training can differ and clash, this would cause problems for both pupils and teachers. In our school we believe we offer everything a student could require for a career in dance.

5. Parents

Parents are not permitted to watch classes. There are opportunities within the year whereby parents are invited to view the student's progress. Parents can collect students from the studio door for younger students, then either the dressing room or stage door. Older pupils can be collected from the front of the theatre. Regretfully parents are not allowed to drop students off by driving down the bus/metro lane to the barrier. Any students seen doing this will be warned and may be fined by the authority.

6. Shows and Exams

Students may be given the opportunity to participate in shows and exams, although these are not compulsory they are encouraged. Extra rehearsals and classes may be required which may result in extra fees to be paid. Shows will also require costumes to be purchased. Students will be entered for examinations at the discretion of the management/Principal.

7. Behaviour

The school prides itself on discipline. Therefore behaviour during and after class is monitored. Any student who does not adhere to school rules and respect others will be jeopardising their place at the school and may be asked to leave should this behaviour continue after warnings. The management/Principal reserve the right to expel any member/pupil of the Louise Edwards School of Dance. If a member/pupil is expelled then all fees will not be refunded.

8. Staff

All staff are CRB checked. All teachers are qualified or are gaining the correct qualifications to teach dance under exam boards. Peter Edwards is a founder of the school and deals with any issues regarding the dance school. As Peter Edwards is CRB checked he is able to work with children, obviously your children's safety is paramount to us. Any workshops or holiday courses that are held by different teachers will also be CRB checked. Any issues please do not contact Peter Edwards or the Dance Principal.

9. Grievances

If there is something you are not happy with, or if there is anything that concerns you, please speak to Peter Edwards or the Dance Principal. Any issues will be dealt with confidentially and swiftly.
